Arrival and transfer to the hotel in Tbilisi.


Having breakfast we will go to the walking tour around Tbilisi.  We will see new and old parts of the town. The excursion begins from St. Trinity Cathedral Sameba – one of the biggest in the whole Caucasia and continue our way to the Metekhi church of 13th century walking along Metekhi bridge we go to the heart of Tbilisi – Sulphuric baths district and go up to Narikala fortress of the 4th century. We may go down either by the cable way or on foot having visited all the important sites of the city and many more. Then you will enjoy your lunch in one of the restaurants and after you have free time at your disposal.


 After breakfast we are driving to the ancient capital of Georgia and the main religious centre – Mtskheta. We visit the age-old monuments of the UNESCO heritage Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (XIc.) and Jvari monastery (Vic.). Upon having lunch we drive through the military road in the direction of Ananuri castle (XVIIc.) one of the well preserved on the territory of Georgia. You will enjoy the stunning views over Jinvali reservoir. Our route goes high up in the mountains to Stepantsminda – administrative centre of the region and where you will enjoy the views of one of the highest peaks in Georgia – mount Kazbegi (2170m) from the Gergeti Cathedral of Saint Trinity. Then we return to Tbilisi again.


This day we are going to visit Chateau Mukhrani, founded in 1878 by the Prince of Mukhrani, royal family heir of Georgia who studied wine production in France and launched the production of wine in his mansion. We will have the wine tasting there and go to the antique cave city of Uplistsikhe – one of the most important architectural and archeological sites in Georgia once used as a passage of the Great Silk Road. Than we drive to Gori and have dinner as well as visit Stalin’s museum outside and if desired you may visit the museum inside.


After breakfast we are driving to Kakheti – main wine region of Georgia. First we will visit a monastery complex of Bodbe – the burial place of St. Nino, converted Georgia to Christianity and then continue our way to a small town Sighnaghi located on the mountain slope and sometimes compared with Italy. You will walk along the narrow streets with peculiar balconies and enjoy the views over the Great Caucasus and Alazani valley. You will get to know to the process of traditional wine making in Georgia in the wine-museum in Velistsikhe where we have a short break and dinner. Afterwards we visit Tsinandali – estate of the noble family Chavchavadze. Alexander Chavchavadze was the first who built the largest winery combining European and centuries-long Georgian winemaking traditions. Then we return to Tbilisi again.


This day our excursion begins with the visiting of Alaverdi Monastery founded by one of the Assyrian monks – Joseph Alaverdeli, who came from Antioch in the VI c. where we get through the magnificent Gombori Pass.  This Cathedral is the second tallest religious building in Georgia, after Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi. Situated in the heart of the world’s oldest wine region, the monks still make their own wine, known as Alaverdi Monastery Cellar. We also visit the ancient capital and royal residence of Kakhetian kings in the medieval time – castle Gremi. We also visit Kvareli winery, one of the leading wine producers boasting with its 7km tunnel for keeping wine. Visitors can taste unique Georgian and European wines as well as walk along the tunnel where only 300m is available for tourists. The day we finish with tasty dinner in a private mansion in Shilda.
